You should check esta status before making final reservations or hotel bookings. Sometimes ESTA applications get rejected, so it is advised to wait for travel authorization first.

Bottom line

Mobile Business Apps Are the Next Best Marketing Tool for Small Businesses

A lot of words and statistics can be used to build the case that mobile devices have grown and continue to grow into one of the most popular technological advancements. Just looking around would convince the most skeptical among us. And as with all new developments, the speed with which these new developments are improved and made more accessible, is directly proportional to their popularity. As a result, mobile is changing and improving… FAST!

For business marketing, an online presence is an ongoing evolution from the days, not too long ago, of just having a website, which developed into a mobile website, to developing an online social presence, and to now developing your own mobile app. Many large businesses have been in the mobile app marketing arena for some time. They realized the many benefits and conveniences mobile apps provided their customers and, with proper management, the increased revenue and customer loyalty they would gain. They also had the resources to fund the exorbitant development costs required to create a custom native app for all the mobile platforms and were able to still do it cost effectively.

Technology marches on! Today, mobile apps are no longer within just the reach of the largest corporations. For the purpose of this article, we will not get bogged down in the technical difference between custom native apps, mobile web apps, hybrid apps, mobile websites, etal. The focus is going to be on what appears to be the best option for small businesses. The target… an exceptional User Experience (now commonly referred to as UX), easily managed content and affordability.

There is no one best solution for every type of business out there. There are advantages and disadvantages to all the mobile options. The key is selecting the best fit, ie., the option that provides the greatest number of benefits to the business and their customers, at the best price. After doing the research, it’s difficult to present an unbiased presentation of these facts when the best choice for most small businesses is so clear. In short, the engaging customer features available, the ease of complete control of the content and the affordable price, the native mobile app built using a template (NMAT) is the next best marketing tool, to improve the bottom line and increase customer loyalty.

To be clear, custom built native apps that are built from the ground up, require hand coding for each app on each mobile platform, Apple, Android, etc. This is a very expensive process. Coders are very well paid and the end result provides a great, custom, UX. The new alternative, NMAT, is building an app using an already coded template system that can be customized in appearance, function and content. This option provides similar features as the custom app, to choose from, at a fraction of the cost, with a very similar UX and can be totally controlled on-line.

Here is a quick look at the comparison of benefits between mobile website and native apps.

Device Features – Apps have full access to all of a mobile devices capabilities including camera, GPS, data storage, etc. for the best UX. Mobile websites currently have limited access.

User Installation – No installation required for mobile websites. A bit of motivation is required to search and find a mobile business app. In the gaming industry, this should not be an obstacle. Most customers will be motivated to find your app to benefit from the content including offers and discounts.

Speed – A mobile app is much faster then a mobile website creating a better UX.

Owner Maintenance – The maintenance of a NMAT is much simpler these days with the app hosted in the cloud. Online Content Management System Dashboards (CMSD), allow clients to change the content of their app and send messages 24/7. Custom native apps are much more complicated to update. Mobile website are updated as easily as a web page.

Offline Functioning – Without a wifi or cell service connection, mobile websites are not accessible. Native apps have offline accessibility giving them the edge in this category.

Development Costs – Custom native apps are extremely expensive. Both Mobile websites and NMAT’s involve the least cost and are very affordable. Possibly with future technological advancements, mobile apps for small businesses may go the way of betamax, and mobile websites may overcome many of their current shortcomings and become the dominate mobile format. But for now, and probably for the foreseeable future, native apps are the best marketing tool available for small businesses. For maximum benefit, your app can be used in conjunction with your mobile website and gain additional user benefits such as the ability for customers to log in to their personal accounts.

Now to the good part. Here’s a look at what benefits a mobile app can bring to your business and your customers. The power of the mobile app to engage and communicate with the customers, is in it’s features.

Mobile App Benefits

The features currently available that can be built into an app is what ‘powers’ the benefits and makes it such a perfect fit for small businesses. In addition to the traditional listing of your businesses’ general information including facility amenities, specials, event calendars, contact info and directions, etc. that you would find on any standard mobile website, apps offer features that better engage customers and fully utilize their mobile devices capabilities making for a very personal and fulfilling UX… that they will want to share. To be clear and further illustrate the benefits of an app over a mobile website, this summary of features will include only those that are available in a mobile app format, and not a mobile website. There are dozens of features available for businesses to choose from to use in their app. We will look at just a few of the more beneficial ones here.

1. Content Management System Dashboard (CMSD) – This gives businesses complete control over the content of their app 24/7. Managing an app is very much like managing your social online presence. It requires daily attention and creative management. The CMSD makes it easy and efficient to make changes to your apps content and appearance, and an easy to use preview feature allows you to view your changes instantly.

2. Push Notification keeps your customers well informed – This feature allows you to send graphically attractive, instantaneous messages to your customers with offers to encourage their immediate or future attendance in your facility. The geo-fencing targeting option within this feature makes targeting your customers more like using a scalpel then a sledge hammer. Strategically used, push notification can keep your customers well informed, connected to your business and continually coming back.

3. Offer QR Code Coupons – This feature requires customer attendance a predetermined number of times before unlocking the value of this coupon. With attractive offers, this feature has the potential to increase customer attendance and increase revenue. QR codes are easily created within the CMSD and available for printing on any and all marketing materials that can be placed in the various departments around your facility.

4. Offer Loyalty Cards – This feature is a virtual stamp card designed to reward your current customers for multiple purchases or actions. It is a simple task using the CMSD to design the number of customer actions required to redeem the offer. This helps remind your current customers that you appreciate their business and helps solidify their loyalty.

5. Offer GPS Coupons – GPS coupons are made accessible when customers are within a predetermined distance of your facility. The number of check-ins required to redeem these coupons, and the time frame, is created using the CMSD. Creative and strategic thinking will make this feature very useful.

6. Detailed Analytics – Be completely informed on all aspects of your customers usage of your app. See what’s working and what’s not and make adjustments. The analytics available directly on the CMSD provides valuable information to app managers.

7. One Touch Calling – A simple feature that makes calling more convenient for your customers. A good customer service.

8. Event Attendance – Want to highlight a special or recurring event to your customers and get a sense of how many customers will be attending? This feature will provide that benefit and also help get the word of your event circulated by allowing users to notify their friends and family of their plans to attend.

9. Third Party Integration – There is a wide variety of 3rd party websites that can be integrated into any app. customers can sign up on your email list directly into services such as Constant Contact, iContact, Get Response and others. Also, integration of all the popular social media and advertising web sites is available.

One other very big benefit of having a well managed and informational rich app, is that it will cut down on the time currently required to give out the same information to customers calling on the phone. Another is the directions feature. One touch and the app will guide them to your location from wherever they are. An app is like every other online presence channel that you currently manage… you do get out of it what you put in. When the decision is made to create an app, a plan should also be in place for the personnel and time required to manage it to reap it’s maximum benefit. It will make your business better.

How To Create High Traffic News Articles

There is no denying the power of news articles when it comes to boosting traffic to any blog or site. It really doesn’t matter what subject or topic your blog deals in, there is no reason why you should be left out and not benefit from the amazing power of news articles in generating traffic.

The first thing you will need to do to cash in on news article traffic is to stay very much informed on the latest breaking news. Then you simply need to think in terms of how that particular bit of news affects you and your audience. Always remember that hidden in every bit of bad news is lots of business opportunity. However it is not always easy to see these opportunities despite the fact that it is simply a matter of identifying the problems that have been created or are bound to be created and inventing a solution that you can sell. However by constantly reporting on the news as it affects your blog, it will be much easier for you to identify the numerous and constantly emerging opportunities that are always being created by breaking news.

The kind of news that you choose to cover in articles at your blog also matters and will have an impact on the sort of traffic that you receive. The more controversial the news, the better. Actually you will have to start thinking like an old fashioned newspaper editor keen on selling their newspapers.

Which brings us to the next important thing about your traffic generating news articles. All the newspapers covering a certain area usually cover the same news. So what makes one newspaper more popular that the others is not what is not the news covered, but how that news is covered. In your blog news articles, you will not attract high traffic not because of what you say, but how you say it.

Every news story has numerous different angles from which it can be looked at. As a blogger looking to create high traffic from your news article, you should choose the most interesting and controversial angle of the story as far as your readers are concerned.

What is the Best TV News Station for Accuracy and Truth Discussed

What is the best Television News Program for news? Information you can trust, which is neither conservative or LibDem’ish; is there such a news station available anywhere? Sure most all news stations claim to have the most balanced, fair, accurate and truthful news, but then again so does the weather channel which is only right 75% of the time and they have real live satellite radar to prove what they are saying?

The real question is; who can you trust? Most cynics say “trust no one” which indeed maybe the best advice so far, yet surely one news outlet has to be better than the rest right? Well which one is it? Are there several, are there none, are there some you can trust some of the time, yet try to fool all the people the rest of the time?

Recently I had a conversation with Fred online while drinking my coffee. Fred is a great wealth of information, as he has satellite and cable TV and some 400 combined channels to surf. I call him surfing Fred. Mr. Fred is a liberal at heart although prefers to be called an Independent. He voted for President Bush the first time and John Kerry the second although prefers neither really. Fred just cannot stand the Fox News Channel which has the highest ratings in the United States currently, although he admits to watching it daily.

One might say that Fred could be right about the Fox viewer ship, when he says the are conservative based folks who have turned off their brains; the mindless masses, surrendering their minds to the media, as he recently agreed that they should be called.

Many folks love Fox news while others think it is more like a comedy in a way, as they interrupt everyone before the viewer ever learns anything. Others, well they simply think that they like that little thing that runs across the bottom of the screen and say it is actually quite a good TV program with the sound off. The Weekly Standards guys are okay when they are on, as they appear very matter of factly and believable, but how much can you really learn from 5-7 segments of shouting and yelling and occasional reading of viewer emails with all the persnickety’ness they can muster?

What TV news do you think is smart to watch? Do you agree with Fred? Would you say none? Or is there one worth turning on for 20-minutes? Do you believe you should channel surf between a few stations to get the best average interpretation of a real life story? I mean you can only take so much of C-Span and the World Cable news gets silly sometimes too. Al Jazeera is certainly an eye-opener of how and what they are listening to in the Arab World. For world news even CNN is it really any better than 50% worthy? Your thoughts are of interest to me because so many are thinking from a cynical sarcasm point of view these days, which is justified to a large degree.

Additionally what print would you say is worthy: FT, WSJ, Foreign Affairs, Economist, Weekly Standard, USA Today, NYT, Bloomberg, BBC? Would you say all are good to some degree, but have you noticed that all have been found to somewhat slant their news? Myself, well I have been misquoted in the media enough and the WSJ always misquotes people, hell they have miss quoted there too on occasion? Got any ideas on a reliable media source. Some local newspapers are great for local stuff and always picks up the world headlines and major AP stories, but often they do not seem to scrutinize the stories much meaning they only pick up the ones with catchy headlines, much of which is laced with opinion. Now then, what would be the supplement to the daily; who, what, when, where and how? Any thoughts, what media sources do you like, think on this.

Top 5 Travel Tips – How to Organize Your Documents

Almost all travelers enjoy learning about their destinations and reading about local art and cuisine – very few enjoy preparing their travel documents and information for travel. It can seem like an overwhelming task, but these five travel tips and an electronic travel wallet will help you get ready with very little stress.

  1. Know What You Need- Most international travel requires the same standard list of documents and information. This list includes a valid passport, a driver’s license, credit or debit cards, and immunization and vaccination records. Usually, with these documents and information you will be well prepared. To find out if the country you are traveling to requires extra documents, check with their embassy.
  2. Go Beyond Basic Documents- Of course you want to be optimally prepared for travel, and this involves gathering more than the basic documents. You will be ready for everything if you also have access to health information like doctor contacts, allergies, a birth certificate and insurance papers. Clearly, it would be tough to carry all that around with you in another country; in the next step we offer an easy solution for having access to all necessary documents.
  3. Make Information Permanently Available- Online travel wallets, are a perfect way to have convenient access to your documents from anywhere. These are organized and secure websites where you can scan or upload information and important documents to access from any computer with an Internet connection. You can store all those extra documents and access them if you need to. This travel wallet makes it so the next time you travel you will already have all your information prepared in a safe location. Ask where the nearest Internet cafe is, or use your iPhone to access documents when you need them.
  4. Leave Itinerary with Family- Most travel experts recommend preparing an itinerary in advance and leaving it with your family or a friend at home. This will allow them to contact you in case of emergency, and will help you have more stress free travel.
  5. Know Who to Contact- Know the phone number of the American embassy in the country you are staying in. If your passport or other traveling documents are lost or stolen, contact the embassy and they will help you take further steps. In some cases they may instruct you to call local police to report your items stolen.

Learn the Truth about Your Web Design Company by Its Portfolio

When you start building your online business and search for a web design company that will implement all your needs for the web site you must understand that it is a very serious step because you are entrusting your business along with its reputation and future.

That’s why it’s very important to make the right choice.
There are several factors that must define your choice, and one of them is portfolio of previous web design works the company has done. It can tell you more than all words and promises, just be attentive and try to analyze. I will tell you what you must pay attention to:

1) Presence of portfolio

Yes, it seems to be obvious that web design company must have own web site with portfolio of previous works. But don’t be astonished too much when you see one without it. There can be various reasons for this but I wouldn’t recommend you to tempt fate. Portfolio is like a “face” and it’s pride of web design company, it must be full, substantial, and routinely updated…and IT MUST BE!

2) Total number of works

This can tell you much however there is no standard number that will guarantee you are going to deal with web design guru. Yes, 50 successfully finished projects is better than 5, but their quality is also important. Compare the number with period of time during which the company operates in the market and calculate average number of projects per year, month, or week. Remember that average web site design takes 2-4 weeks to be finished.

What this information can give you? Firstly, you can see that the company has got enough expertise. Then this shows that it has stable flow of works, adjusted schedule of development process, and enough staff to perform it, so if you commit your web site design to the company you can be sure that the work won’t be for them like a bolt from the blue or well-paid but not feasible overloading.

3) Type of works

Look attentively at each work in the portfolio. How many projects are similar to the one you need by type of site, technology used, industry, and look and feel?
At least 2-3? Good!
More than 5? Excellent!!
None? There can be a reason for this – owner didn’t want to make it published, or web site is no more live – so if all other works show professionalism and expertise, you should ask the
company if they have ever done the task you need.

If you need any particular technology to be used for your web site implementation it’s more than necessary to see examples how the web design company worked with it. However sometimes it happens if the technology is not common used and very popular that the web design company hasn’t had chance to work with it for commercial purpose but it might be used for internal projects development, so you will loose nothing if ask the company to show you some examples if they exist.

If you need a web site for exact business, for example dating site or real estate site, it’s also better to view such previous works in the portfolio because there are can be specific features and it’s better to make sure that the web design company is experienced with them. Also some web design companies make demo packages that also can show you the abilities and experience.

4) Quality of works

Learn carefully each live site (or the ones which are similar to the site you need). How long does it take to load the site home page?
A few seconds? Great, the web designer knows how to optimize images.
A few minutes? It’s normal if this is a Flash site because usually the whole site is loaded at one time, not only the home page; or it’s a Flash intro which goes ahead entering the site
and also can load longer because of movie and sound.

But if a simple HTML web site loads more than 2-3 minutes and you can’t see all images or they are shown partially, you must be watchful. Check another HTML sites from the portfolio – if they are also loading for ages, it’s better to search for another web design company because this one is not professional.

All of the aforesaid is correct only if bandwidth of your Internet connection is normal and usually you don’t have problems with loading web sites.

Test the site for user-friendly navigation, pay attention to colors combination, and estimate general impression from the site – all this must reflect professional work. But sometimes a web design company is forced to design a site strictly according to the customer’s wishes, so if the customer lacks for good taste the site also looks tasteless. There can one or two such sites in the portfolio, but not all!

5) Happy owners

Web design business is a highly competitive area and as in any business there are honest and dishonest players. Sometimes it happens that you see the same site in portfolio of two different web design companies and it’s difficult to find the truth to which of them the work really belongs. Some quirky companies place cheap templates in their portfolio with fake owners’ contact info.

That’s why it’s very important to know real references of real owners of the web sites the web design company has made. Ideally this info must be accessible on the web design company site under Portfolio, Testimonials, or Clients sections. Try to contact ALL of the persons listed there and compare their opinions. You may get to know some interesting facts.

6) Own site of web design company

And finally compare the own site of the web design company to web sites presented in its portfolio. Are they similar by quality, technology used, and overall feeling? If the works from the portfolio look much poorer than the own site this can mean that the own site was ordered from another web design company, more professional. Yes, it happens sometimes in web design business that start-up amateur company commits its web site design to “older” professionals. In such case you better to continue searching for another web design company.

So these 6 rules can help you to make the right choice. Don’t be afraid to spend longer time for search and analysis, finally you will only benefit by getting perfect web site that will give new prospects to your business and make it more successful.

Influence Marketing in Cyberspace and the Real World

With influence marketing, it’s important to remember that no matter how influential someone is, they too are influenced by their own network of friends, family, colleagues and even rivals.

Those who influence the influential can have their own large network, but in many cases those people at the top of the influence pyramid have a small tight-knit group of associates.

If you want investment guru Warren Buffett to speak at your charity event or university – you form a meaningful relationship with his public relations people. That’s the essence of what it means to influence the influencer.

The kicker is how to do this. How does one go about becoming someone who has the opportunity to shape the actions of the Warren Buffetts of the world? And, depending on your target demographic, the challenge to influence marketing people is not only figuring out who the primary influencers are, but also who influences the influencers.

For those who are new to the influence marketing game, finding out who these people are won’t be easy, but the tools to track them down are probably already things you use every day – social media.

Twitter can help you discover who the real influencers are by how many followers they have. It doesn’t matter what industry someone is in; if they have 800,000 followers, they are influential.

With Facebook, you may be able to see who the primary influencer networks with, and how frequently they engage these people.

At Digg, there is a group of extremely influential members, and if enough of them Digg your article or post, you’ll end on top of the front page.

The student (we’re all students, all our lives) of influence marketing can use this platform to see who the influencers are ‘Digging’ to get sense of what interests an influencer.

But don’t rely completely on social media. Influence marketers should also ‘unplug’ now and then and look at the world around them.

Even in this technological age, some of the greatest influencers are people who interact with others the old-fashioned way – face to face. The lion’s share of research into influence marketing can be done on social media, but there is no substitute for a hand-shake and a good conversation over a cup of coffee.

What Is This Blogging Thing Then?

Everybody is raving on about blogs, it seems everyone has one, and it seems that everyone is telling you that if you want to get on in Internet Marketing you need one too!!

But what exactly is this Blogging Thing??

OK well like everything else, theres the Long answer, the short answer, and Martins Answer(often quite similar to the long answer, only, well, better:-) )

Blogging, Like MOST of the other New Trends, isn’t actually new at all. Blogging has actually been around for quite some years now, I would probably say its Infancy was pre-2000 if I really wanted to push it back.

A Blog, or Weblog, is qute simply an Online Journal or diary.

BUT, Thats not what people Nowadays mean, when people talk to you about Blog and Blogging, they are *Really* talking about using this Blogging software to run your sites.

The Simplicity and Design of the software enables even the most technically challenged to add updated fresh content to their webpages, basically if you can type and use Word, you can run a Blog, this in turn is why it is becoming ever so popular, and also why most people do use it for, or at least most people *Were* using Blog and Blog software to run little Personal Diary Blogs.

However, what it really is, is a way to have a Regularly updated website related to your Business or Theme at the push of a button.

Here are the three most popular “blogs” at the time of printing this, they probably will remain like this for a long time, but although these are “Blogs” they are more along the lines of an actual real content website, rather than a Personal Diary type blog

The MAIN Difference between a blog and a standard website, is the fact that Bloggers tend to be more Personal, tend to leave more of a Personal Stamp on their work. Thats why those first two sites above are WAY more popular than if they had just been a standard Impersonal Website.

DONT Let this Blogging Craze Confuse you, its really not that complex, or infact that different to things you may already be used to, dont worry about this whole “Blog Revolution” thing, it is more of an Evolution than a Revolution, and the evolution involves Websites and Online Business in general, not Blogging on its own, Blogging has simply become a tool to enable the following things –

Through Free services such as Blogger, anyone anywhere anytime can start a website, without having any technical knowledge.

Through Blogging software, it has become easier and easier to add fresh original content to your website on a regular basis,

Bloggers Share information, ideas and thoughts with eachother through reading eachothers blogs and talking about them on their own blogs,

Those are the Simple Elements of what Blogging is.

When you start looking at the Software running the Blogs, and the Functions it has, you can see even more benefits, and why it is Much Much More than just “a Weblog” I am talking about, I want you to understand that Blogging is an ESSENTIAL Part of your Entire Marketing Campaign, along with Article Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, and all the other aspects I cover, blogging is essential.

BECAUSE, Not only does your average Blogging software enable Push Button Content Updates, BUT it also has the ability to do a MULTITUDE of the Mundane tasks we have to undertake to build our traffic up to our websites.

Your Blogging Software can pretty much take care of all your On Page Search Engine Optimization AUTOMATICALLY!! All you need to do is post new content!!

Blog Softwares can automatically reformat your content into different Code Types readable by Different types of technology, with a little help, your blog could kick out pages viewable in Web Browsers, Palm Pilots, Mobile Phones, and perhaps the best one at the moment is RSS!!

Yes, your blog will easily produce a Reformatted version of your webpage that can be Syndicated by other sites, read by people directly on their desktops, and much more!!

I do cover a Wide Range of Advanced Blogging Tactics which I wont go into here as I would be here for TOO Long!!

Quite Simply, a Blog, is a Software to Power your websites, how you decide to use it is up to you, but one thing I WILL STRESS here at the end is that The Whole Idea behind the fact that blogs are easy to use is to use them Well, and update them regularly, to see the full benefit. Its because of this fact, that a *Good* Blog should be updated Regularly to get the most benefits, that Most Blogs are really qute a Personal Type Weblog but DONT let that start to limit your thinking about what you can do with a blog, look again at the Top 3 blogs, go to and look at the biggest blogs,

Dont you think, actually, that Most of the Big blogs look more like a Magazine now, rather than a Journal or Diary?
