Marketing is a major part of every business, and most of us are involved in some way with marketing at some point in our careers. I have been asked to take marketing internships and have recently taken one, and I am excited to share with you how I went about this.
The internships are given by a company and consist of a one week assignment that allows the company to put you in a position to learn and interact with some of the company’s marketing staff. The internship will last for a set number of weeks, which includes two days of work (no school involved) and two days off. At the end of the two days, the company will pay your salary for the next week as well as give you a set of marketing responsibilities.
I had been working a lot with marketing companies through my university and they are the most awesome people to work with. However, I have always been a bit wary of marketing as a profession. The fact that you are spending two days making a million dollar deal and spending the other two days making a million dollars is a bit of a stretch. I guess I should be relieved that you are taking advantage of the extra time to learn and work with people who are good at this.
I had a chance to work with two marketing interns on my internship. It turns out that a marketing internship is not nearly as hard to get as I thought. It turns out that there is a lot of overlap between marketing and web development and that marketing is often used to make sites more user friendly. Although this is not necessarily a bad thing, it’s nice to see marketing come up as a viable option for marketers.
The internship was a good opportunity for me to work with two marketing interns. The interns were very organized and were able to help me with my project as well as other projects. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about marketing. I would definitely recommend getting an internship at a place that has a marketing department.
